What were you trying to do?

Using my systems that run kde plasma desktops, no checkmarks are displaying in any of the checkboxes. I have uploaded an example screenshot.

This issue is showing up in each browser I have installed, which are Firefox 115.5.0esr, Chrome 120.0.6099.71, Opera 105.0.4970.34, and even KDE's Konqueror 23.08.3.

My environment is not far off of stock for a Gentoo install, kernel 6.6.3-gentoo-x86_64, kde frameworks 5.113, plasma 5.27.9, apps/gear 23.08.3.

What did you expect to happen?

See checkmarks appear in the checkboxes they're supposed to be currently showing in.

What actually happened?

None appeared on my systems that have very similar OS + software + environment setups.

I do not see the problem on firefox or chrome on my android device. Nor do I see the problem in Firefox in a Windows VM on one of the same systems that's exhibiting the issue.

Severity

I cannot use it as easily as I'd like

Was missing dejavu font, apparently I had no other that covered the right glyph? Anyhow, strangely enough installing dejavu resolved the checkbox issue.
