this is something really cool that misskey has
i tried to make it a frontend thing but unfortunately since it requires an API token and since i doubt people will generate their own just for their accounts, i think this integration makes more sense in the backend

Isn't the deepl thing in misskey just a frontend plugin? What about using puniko's pleroma-mod-loader?

mostly frontend, yeah, but deepl's API requires an account, which is set in the instance settings. without the admin setting it the option to translate disappears
