Just as a closing remark - I've followed the pattern of gendered forms that I've seen there, eś (-aś) (which uses the male form as a default and gives a female form in the parentheses) because I didn't want to edit existing text (it was already a lot) and I didn't want to break consistency, but I'm not particularly happy about it. Unfortunately, neutral forms aren't particularly popular in Poland, there are several options (replacing the e/a letter with 'x', '*', '_', or using neutral forms that some NB people use), and I'm not sure what would be the best here, I'd have to consult more people but I don't know anyone from Poland who uses Akkoma and isn't from my instance (I've very inconsistently patched some of it to 'x' forms locally and nobody complained, but that's only two people beside me there).

Hello, Poland-dwelling Akkoma-using Floaty-friend here, I was asked to chip in. I usually use the English version so I'm gonna switch to Polish for a while to see how it sits overall and hopefully remember to report back.

I'm guessing the eś(-aś) was first introduced by mkljczk back in Pleroma era and it just carried over, Mastodon seems to be full of that solution (pretty sure that was also mkljczk). I would love to see these changed to more neutral, but I wouldn't know how to proceed about it either.

Avoiding gendered forms sounds sadly impractical unless you give up on ever seeing past tense again, but then we'd end up writing notifications in present tense. Which is maybeeeee okay? But I haven't browsed the strings yet so I'm half-expecting something trickier to come up.
Not a big fan of x/* forms because I still read things in my voice, but I suppose that's still nicer than eśaś, and if someone's intentionally mean about it I don't think they're the intended audience of Akkoma.
I guess osobatywy are both TTS-readable and "uncontroversial", though slapping "person" in front of every name makes all text longer. But that's probably the most straightforward approach.

Thanks! Looks like I made a good call not changing things too much, as I completely forgot about text-to-speech. I think osobatywy could be a good choice. And btw. I admit I used the English version too, until I've got users on my instance and one of them made fun of the "właśnie wróciłem z kościoła" thing.

Should be done, including the 'eś (-aś)' forms changed to 'oś'. Sorry it took a while, there was some drama related to my instance recently, but (hopefully) it looks like it died down.

I also changed forms like "administrator" to "administracja" (there might be more than one anyway), I wasn't sure about things like "użytkownik" or "obserwujący"; I've got some feedback that it's not worth changing that to osobatywy, but I still couldn't find anyone outside of my instance (and local bubble) who uses Akkoma in Polish.
